Maharaja Express Train India :
The Pan-Indian luxury train, Maharajas’ Express is the new addition to the Indian train tours. Royale Indian Rail Tours Ltd. (RITL), a joint venture of IRCTC and Cox and Kings India Ltd (CKIL) launched this train in March, 2010. This is the costliest train in Asia and the theme is derived from the personal trains of the Indian maharajas, like the royal train of maharaja of Vadodara, Nizams of Hyderabad, maharaja of Gwalior, Indore and maharajas of Jodhpur.
The inaugural journey started in Mumbai has ushered a legendary introduction in Indian rail tourism. This super luxury train of India is quite different from the previous luxury trains of India and it offers four travel itineraries from Mumbai to Delhi and Delhi to Kolkata and vice versa. The well known journalist cum travel writer Mark Tully attending the inaugural journey of Maharaja Express Train said, this train introduces a nee era in India luxury train tour.
Maharajas Express comprises of a total of 23 coaches and it can carry 84 travelers. The coach types are categorized as deluxe carriages (5), deluxe cabin carriages (6), suite carriages (2) and one presidential suite. It boasts of two fine dining restaurants, one bar and a lounge. The bar of the train will serve a wide variety of beer, wines and spirits. The lounge is decked with a bar, game tables and a boutique.
This Train has some unique features which are quite new in Indian luxury train and these features separate it from other trains. The new innovations are the New pneumatic and hydraulic suspension system which boosts smoother train ride, micro processor based climate control in the cabins, eco friendly toilet system, first Pan-Indian train which crosses state boundaries, internet and direct TV, marine design based kitchen, etc among others.
