Destinations Covered: Mumbai-Sindhudurg Nagari-Goa- Kolhapur-Aurangabad-Tadoba & Wardha-Ajanta Caves / Nasik-Mumbai

Day 1 - (Wednesday) Mumbai

Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary

  • Mumbai is a bustling metropolitan city of India. Your regal Deccan odyssey starts from the Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus. Divino Indian Memoirz executive would welcome you at the station. Before the train departs in the evening, our executive would take you on a short tour of the city depending on your wish. The train has all the facilities for wining, dining and various other comforts. Deccan Odyssey will depart to Sindhudurg.  Dinner served on-board.

Day 02: Thursday - Sindhudurg the Ocean Fort - Tarkarli Beach – Dhamapur

Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary

Deccan Odyssey would walk into Sindhudurg Nagari Railway station in the morning. After taking your breakfast, you would reach Malvan jetty by an AC bus. You will take a boat to reach the Sindhudurg, the Fort and naval headquarter of the Maratha empire. The great Maratha Emperor, Shivaji, built the temple in 1664-67. The architecture of the fort is worth viewing and is considered as engineering marvel of the Maratha artisans. Afterwards, we proceed to Tarkarli Beach situated at the confluence of the Arabian Sea and Karli River.  Here, you can laze around the beach.

After having your lunch, you will be taken to Dhamapur by luxury bus. Visit the famous temples of Goddess Bhagawati and Bharadi Devi located on banks of beautiful lake. Then proceed to Kudal Railway Station to board the train. Dinner and overnight on board the train.

Day 03: Friday – Goa

Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary

Karmali railway station is the next destination of Deccan Odyssey where it will reach in the morning. You will have your breakfast on board and then visit Old Goa by AC bus. Explore the ruins of St. Augustine Church once largest cathedral in Goa, Basilica of Bom Jesus where the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier is preserved here, Se Cathedral and the Church of St. Francis of Assissi which is an archaeological museum for Goan antiques. After taking your lunch, enjoy the Goa beaches and local Goan cuisines.
Return back and the board the train at Madgaon railway station.

Day 04: Saturday - Kolhapur

Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary

 In the morning, the Deccan Odyssey will reach Kolhapur City, once a princely state.   After your breakfast, visit New Palace, a royal palace which has been partly converted into a museum. The museum houses the furniture, weapons, costumes and photographs of His Highness Shri Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj. You must visit Bhavani Mandap and Mahalaxmi Temple.While visiting Shalini Palace; enjoy the cultural show and martial arts. You can visit the bustling bazaars to shop for jewellery, leather sandals, Kolhapuri chappals, saris, etc. Return to the hotel and you might have a spa message on-board. The dinner served on-board.

Day 05: Sunday - Daulatabad - Ellora Caves

Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary

 In the morning, Deccan Odyssey would reach at Daulatabad. After breakfast, you would visit the splendid fort of Daulatabad   located 600 ft above the Deccan plain. Once it was known as Devgiri and head quarters of the powerful Yadava rulers. Mohammed bin Tughlak, the Sultan of Delhi annexed the fort and made it his capital renaming it as Daulatabad, or City of Fortune.

 Afterwards, Visit the Ellora Caves which are thronged by millions of tourists. The 34 caves of Ellora has the sculpture of three religions-Buddhism, Hinduism and Jainism. The caves date back to 5th to 11th century. The major excavation is the magnificent Kailasa Temple (Cave 16), the biggest monolithic structure in the world.

After having your lunch, you would visit the Bibi-ka-Maqbara built by Prince Azam Shah, son of Emperor Aurangzeb, as a tribute to his mother Rabia Durrani. It is a replica of Taj Mahal and hence known as poor man’s Taj. Go for shopping at bustling bazaars of Aurangabad. Return back to the train. Dinner and overnight stay on-board the train.

Day 06: Monday - Chandrapur (Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary) Wardha (Sevagram)

 Today, the Deccan Odyssey train will arrive at Chandrapur Railway station in the morning.  After having your breakfast, you would visit Tadoba Wildlife Sanctuary by a jeep. It is known as Tadoba-Andhari Tiger Reserve. The main attractions at the sanctuary are royal Bengal tiger and Sambar, Gaur, Chinkara, Leopard cat, Pangolin, Panther, Spotted deer, Sloth bear, Chausinga, Nilgai, Barking deer, Indian bison, Wild dog, Hyena, Jackals, etc. It is also home to numerous varieties of migratory   birds. You will have lunch on board the train.

In the afternoon, train would reach Wardha Railway Station. Go over to Sevagram which Gandhiji adopted as his home. Also, visit the Gandhi Ashram in Sevagram. Explore the Adi Nivas (First Residence), Prayer Ground, Bapu Kuti, Ba Kuti, Gandhiji's Secretariat, Bapu's Kitchen, Akhari Niwas (Last Abode). Return to the train. Dinner on board.

Day 07: Tuesday - Ajanta - Nashik

Deccan Odyssey Travel Itinerary

 In the morning, you would reach Bhusawal railway station.  After having your breakfast, you would visit by luxury coach the World Heritage Site, Ajanta Caves.

The Buddhist caves of Ajanta date back to the 2nd century BC. The excavations of the caves prove that Buddhism was flourished in the region before the Christian era. The paintings and sculptures of the rock cut architecture of Ajanta are considered as the masterpieces of Buddhist art and universal pictorial art.

 In the afternoon, the train will depart for Nashik. Lunch on board. After reaching Nasik, you would visit Panchawati Ghat known for Kumbh Mela. Panchawati finds a mention in Hindu epic Ramayana. It is here that Rama spent his vanavasa period with wife Sita and brother Lakshmana. Ravana kidnapped Sita from Panchawati. There is a Kalaram temple dedicated to Lord Rama.

 You would board the train at Deolali railway station. Farewell dinner on-board.
