Deccan Odyssey History :
Deccan Odyssey is an excellent luxury train of Maharashtra. It echoes the same standards and ethos as Palace on Wheels of Rajasthan. The train was launched by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd in association with Indian Railways Ministry. It has been running efficiently ever since it was inaugurated. It could be compared with the best luxury trains of the world like the Blue Train of South Africa, The Orient Express of Europe and the Eastern and Oriental of South East Asia.
The MOU was signed in Feb 2001 between the Indian Railway Ministry and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. The blue Limousine design was selected for the train. After two years of the MOU, Deccan Odyssey was ready at the end of 2003 and it begun its first journey on January 16th, 2004 from Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) Mumbai.
